History

The OPTYS printing and commercial company has been traditionally well-known in Opava since the eighteenth century. The original buildings in Masaryk Street, still owned by the company belong among Opava's renowned cultural monuments.

The rebirth of our company in 1992 started its modern history. The company came into existence through the privatisation of the production facility of Moravian Printing Plants in Olomouc, and shortly afterward, rapid development commenced. At the time of privatisation, we employed 46 people and used the obsolete technology of letterpress and small offset.

In the autumn of 1994, we bought our first ROTATEK rotary offset machine, which with its capacity replaced the existing letterpress sheet machines and, thus, contributed to labour productivity and production volume. Thanks to this technology, the company was able to commence producing a quite new special strip form printed matter, fast-detachable sets and form blocks on carbonless copy paper.

The whole of the nineties was dedicated to building up our commercial network. In 1997, we opened our first two retail shops. Four dispatch warehouses outside Opava commenced operation to cover the distribution of our products in all regions of the Czech Republic.

After 2000, the company continued bringing its technology up-to-date with the additional installation of offset rotary machines, envelope-making machines, and, primarily, OCÉ or XEROX one-colour and multi-colour laser printing machines.

In 2002, the company also intensified its mailing activities. Through capital participation in the specialised mailing company of Postservis SM, the company became the largest supplier of Czech Post in Moravia.

We also expanded our production with personalised printed matter equipped with bar codes and numeric series. We print special printed matter with security features and pressure glue.

On 1 January 2009, we commenced expansion of the production of securities in our new Prague Division facilities (the former Victoria Security Printing plant).
